How to Install Choicer Voicer Packs

Before you start

A pack is community content, not the paid game. You need a legitimate copy of The Choicer Voicer from the developer's itch.io page and a pack downloaded from its creator or another documented original source.

• Keep the downloaded ZIP until the new pack works.
• Back up any custom folder you have edited by hand.
• Check the source page for a required game version.
• Do not run programs or scripts bundled with a voice pack.

Install the pack

1. Verify the sourceConfirm the creator name, original publication page, pack type, and any stated compatibility notes.
2. Inspect the ZIP locallyOpen Pack Doctor. Review risky-file warnings, folder depth, media counts, and the SHA-256 fingerprint.
3. Extract to a temporary folderDo not extract straight into the game directory. Open the result and find the folder that actually contains the pack media.
4. Open the game-managed pack locationLaunch The Choicer Voicer and use its main-menu path to open the custom content folder. Locate packs_voice.
5. Copy one pack folderMove the folder that contains the audio and pack data into packs_voice. Avoid merging it into another creator's folder.
6. Reload and testReturn to the pack selector or restart the game. Open the pack, preview a clip, and run a short test before deleting the ZIP.

Check the folder shape

The most common installation mistake is copying the ZIP wrapper instead of the real pack folder. A normal voice pack can be very simple. The official guide says a folder with supported audio files is enough to work.

A dub pack also belongs in packs_voice. For Dub Mode, the official guide requires timing metadata and an OGV file named dub_video. A normal MP4 left in the folder does not satisfy that requirement.

If the pack does not appear

Open the folder from the game again

Confirm you copied the pack into the location opened by the current build, not a folder found in an old tutorial.

Remove one wrapper folder

If every useful file is inside a second same-named folder, move the inner pack folder up one level and test again.

Check the pack type

Menu, Studio, Judge, Host, Contestant, and Chatter packs have their own requirements. Do not assume every ZIP belongs inpacks_voice.

Read the in-game load errors

Version 0.5.0 added a readme and load-error area to the voice pack selection screen. Use the game's own error text before renaming files.

Check compatibility

A pack created for a newer metadata or Dub Mode feature may not work in an older build. Update through itch.io, then retest a clean copy.

Safe download habits

• Prefer a creator-managed page over a mirror.
• Compare a published SHA-256 value when one is available.
• Keep executable files out of ordinary pack folders.
• Scan unfamiliar archives with your operating system or security product.
• Delete only known junk files. Do not let an automated tool rewrite pack metadata.
